BNPD // BNPD // BNPD //
BNPD stands for Benjamin Nelson Pennell Design, a practice which began in 2017 with the commission of a small residence in Northern California. We provide ordinary architectural services for additions, remodels, ground-up construction, and feasibility studies. When the occasion calls for it, we involve ourselves in construction as well; physically making custom-built furniture, ornamental applique, fiberglass sculpture, and structural steelwork. Read More

REPORTING FOR DUTY!
DOC 234—34/2
In a world of fairy tales, make-believe, and pseudo pornographic computer renderings, Ben Pennell is the real deal: an artist, an inventor, a craftsman, and yes, you guessed it, an architect! Behold!

He waits for no one! But fear not because you too can join him–or rather “me” (as I am Ben Pennell)– in my quest for architectural glory! You and I, we stand on the shoulders of giants at the base of Mt Everest, but before us there is a field of smoldering ash, and on top of that a strip mall from the early two-thousands, and beside it ten million neighborhoods of vinyl clad pencil sharpeners, otherwise known as “people’s homes.” Dear Reader, maybe you are a client of mine; or a patron, or a student, or a publicist, or an employee—God alone knows what brought you here, but as I see it there is work to be done! Work of a mostly utilitarian kind, absolutely; but of the kind which nourishes the body as much as the spirit, we admit, for that we are more sufficiently prepared.

Though most architects are in a state of hiding, fearful of exercising their uncompromised expertise, one day we will emerge from our garrets and hovels. “Big Builders,” with their bulldozers on the ground, and their politicians in their back pocket, they fear this eventuality! We will take back these war-torn cities of ours, and we will adorn them once again with an ornamentation commensurate with the greatness of our nobel species. There is all the space in the world, but only the time which our mortality permits.

Write to me, Dear reader!
You and I, in some place;
and in some capacity, we will rebuild anew!
Perhaps tomorrow, but preferably tonight!

Remember:

THEY WANT US TO FAIL.
THEY WANT US TO SURRENDER.
BUT ALL OF THIS WE WILL ACCOMPLISH.

IF NOT WITH LOVE, THEN WITH BRUTE FORCE.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Nelson Pennell
